Branch bend joint

Branch bend joint

The branch joint is used to make branches when making connections from the transmission network. It allows for making a parallel branch or T-type.

Category:

The branch joint is used to make branches when making connections from the transmission network. It allows for making a parallel branch or T-type. In this case, the fitting is welded to the panel reproducing the protective jacket of the main pipe. Another option is to make a branch using the hot cut method. In this version, the joint from the side of the welding zone is connected by means of extruder welding, directly to the casing pipe of the pre-insulated transmission pipe.
Currently, branches are made mainly with the help of prefabricated fittings from the offer of the manufacturer of pre-insulated pipes. With this solution, we have parallel or T-shaped branch fittings with strictly imposed element geometry, which cannot be adapted to real terrain conditions. At the same time, such elements have, for obvious reasons, a high price and require the use of additional joints on connections with adjacent sections of the network.
The use of a branch muff allows for limiting the number of branch components and, moreover, gives the possibility of flexible branch shaping with adjustment to the terrain and local conditions. Adapting the muff to the shape of the steel branch facilitates heating the muff in the harmonica zone.
Thanks to this, we get a double benefit: reducing material costs and shortening the execution time of a particular network node.
Like all joints offered by RADPOL S.A. the branch joint is made of radiation-crosslinked high density polyethylene. The tested method of closing the muff after applying PUR foam with embedded plugs was also used. The basic version of the seal is a butyl mass strip. It is possible to make sealing in configurations offered for couplings for straight joints.

Specification:

  • radiation cross-linked branch muff,
  • high strength and shrinking strength,
  • the ability to shape any departure angle from 0° to 90°,
  • possibility of using for two branch pipe sizes,
  • checked sealing with fused plug,
  • choice of sealants: mastic, hot melt adhesive, double seal,
  • quick assembly without the use of specialized equipment,
  • much cheaper solution than the prefabricated version,
  • shorter assembly time than in the prefabricated version,
  • smaller assembly dimensions than in the prefabricated version,
  • can be used for “hot cuts”.
